About
We are John Shortland and Paige Hindmarsh, founders of Mai Marae Limited, after more than a decade living on the Gold Coast in Australia, we moved back to Tolaga Bay, New Zealand and thought how we can better serve our community. Both us have grown up on marae and we can see our marae members struggle with the regular operations of our marae. So, it only seems natural for us to focus on solutions for our marae in the digital age.
Our goalsOur vision is to create digital solutions that make a difference for marae. We believe in building trust to earn respect by understanding marae issues and not just promoting solutions.
So, with that in mind, our focus is to:
- Network with marae to build proactive relationships
- Resolve the root-cause to the most important challenges for marae
- Relieve marae of error-prone tasks and processes

I am of Ngapuhi & Waikato descent and I am a computer programmer with over 20 years of experience developing business-oriented apps in New Zealand, Australia, and China.
I love smoked, low n' slow food and a keen supporter of NZ rugby from the grass-roots to the All Blacks.
Paige HindmarshCo-founder/Senior Advisor
I am of Ngati Porou descent and I am a very motivated person who loves challenges. I always strive to do my best at any aspect of my role, and I enjoy pushing my learning to the next level.
I love my netball and still play at a social level for my local club. Whanau is at the heart of everything I do.
